The archetypal look calls for achromatic rum, but Spirits columnist Jason Wilson says cachaca gives this punch overmuch richer spirit and much complexity. Don't omit the bitters: They equilibrium the lime juice.

  • 10 ounces freshly squeezed lime foodstuff (from astir 4 limes)
  • 5 ounces elemental syrup (see NOTE)
  • 20 dashes Angostura bitters
