Serve warm, with vanilla crystal cream. If the plums you're utilizing are not rather ripe, coarsely chop them alternatively of cutting them into wedges.

Ingredients

For the filling

  • 2 pounds ripe plums, halved, pitted, each chopped into 6 wedges (see headnote)
  • 1/3 cupful sugar
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

For the topping

  • 3/4 cupful flour
  • 1/4 cupful to 1/2 cupful sugar
  • 8 tablespoons rolled oats (not instant)
  • 4 ounces (1 stick) acold unsalted butter, chopped into pieces
  • 3/4 cupful sliced almonds, coarsely chopped
