This is simply a saccharine and antithetic dessert, often made with flour oregon semolina, butter, sugar, beverage and nuts. In the Black Sea region, however, it is made with locally produced cornmeal and hazelnuts.

  • 2 cups yellowish cornmeal
  • 9 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cupful finely crushed skinned hazelnuts, positive 2 to 3 tablespoons coarsely chopped, for garnish (see NOTE)
  • 1/2 cupful dense cream, for serving
