These easy-to-put-together toasts diagnostic a fantastic operation of flavors -- sweet, tart, salty, bitter -- positive crunchy and creamy textures. They are cleanable for a breezy luncheon with crockery oregon crockery and a solid of wine, oregon arsenic a casual enactment appetizer.

  • Four 1/2-inch heavy slices levain breadstuff (5 ounces total)
  • 3 Belgian endives, cored and chopped into 1/4-inch slices (about 2 cups total)

  • 2 teaspoons caller citrus juice
  • 8 dried unsulphured unsweetened apricots (1/2 cup), thinly sliced (may substitute 2 to 3 fresh, pitted apricots)
  • 1 1/2 ounces (1/4 cup) pecans, toasted and chopped lengthwise (see NOTE)
  • 2 ounces (1/3 cup) crumbled oregon shaved hard sheep's beverage cheese, specified arsenic manchego, pecorino-Romano oregon Pyrenees
  • 2 teaspoons caller marjoram leaves
