These petite spicy balls are vegetarian and marque an antithetic autumn appetizer.

Serve with a commercially prepared greenish capsicum sauce, specified arsenic Tabasco marque Green Pepper Sauce, for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons canola oil, positive much for frying the sage leaves
  • 1/2 cupful finely diced bulb (from astir 1/2 a mean onion)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons chopped sage leaves, positive 16 full sage leaves, for garnish
  • 3/4 cupful pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pastry filling)
  • 3/4 cupful plain dried breadcrumbs
  • 1 ample egg, beaten (may substitute 1/4 cupful silken tofu)
  • 1/2 spoon salt, positive much for seasoning sage leaves
  • 1/4 spoon freshly crushed achromatic pepper
