Runaway kangaroo shuts down Alabama interstate highway

A runaway kangaroo forced the closure of an Alabama interstate road successful a bizarre incidental captured connected video. 

Footage showed the carnal hopping on Interstate 85 successful Macon County connected Tuesday, betwixt Montgomery and Auburn, earlier it was captured by authorities troopers and its owner. 

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the marsupial had been progressive successful a two-vehicle crash. 

"Eventually some the southbound and northbound lanes of Interstate 85 adjacent the 46-mile marker were closed portion Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division on with the animal’s proprietor conducted a betterment of the kangaroo," it said successful a statement. The kangaroo, named Shiela, was tranquilized with a dart. 

The animal's owner, Patrick Starr, told The Associated Press that Sheila escaped from her enclosure. 

"She's backmost location safe. She's up. She's not sedated anymore. She's eating. She's drinking. She's not injured," Starr said. 

The kangaroo was treated by the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, helium said.

Starr’s household runs a pumpkin spot and petting zoo, but Sheila is conscionable a idiosyncratic pet, helium added.
