Aerial inspections will begin the first week of March, weather permitting, in the Gettysburg, Shippensburg, and York areas. Helicopter patrols will be conducted with a pilot and lineman looking for broken cross arms, damaged or floating wires, tree interference, and burnt pole tops.
The inspections are part of a rotation that ensures all systems are looked at in a three-year period. Inspections can take several weeks, and helicopters will spend an average of six to eight hours a day inspecting.
