This light, refreshing concoction is akin to a Tom Collins. Its origins tin beryllium traced to the 19th century.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups gin
  • Finely grated zest of 1 lemon, positive 15 to 20 bladed strips of citrus peel (from 2 oregon 3 lemons, with arsenic small pith arsenic possible), for garnish
  • Freshly squeezed foodstuff of 1/2 citrus (2 tablespoons)
  • 1 cupful acold water
  • 1/2 cupful maraschino liqueur (do not usage the foodstuff from jarred maraschino cherries)
  • 2 tablespoons demerara sweetener (see headnote)
  • 2 quarts chilled seltzer water
