The classical Tex-Mex stew is affluent and delicious without the hours of simmering that astir stews require.

Serve with Mexican rice, refried beans and lukewarm tortillas to soak up each driblet of the flavorful sauce.

  • 1 tablespoonful olive oil
  • 2 pounds beef sirloin, trimmed of each disposable fat, past chopped into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 mean achromatic onion, chopped successful half, past into bladed slices
  • 4 mean cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 mean greenish doorbell pepper, seeded and chopped into slices
  • 2 tablespoons crushed cumin
  • 1 spoon kosher salt
  • 1 spoon freshly crushed achromatic pepper
  • 8 ounces canned herb sauce
  • 1 cupful water
